About the Artist
In Asia, 1664 Blanc is renowned for its chic and refined brand identity, seamlessly blending French elegance with the Art de Vivre. For the 2025 Festive Edition, 1664 Blanc Vietnam collaborated with the celebrated French artist Dimitri Rybaltchenko to create an exclusive artwork that embodies celebration and tradition.
Born into a family of artists, French artist Dimitri Rybaltchenko introduces himself as a dreamer. He designs and creates worlds, images, objects, scenarios, and spaces. His dreams become tangible, enchanted realities through the encounter of materials and crafts techniques. With different styles and approaches, Dimitri invites the viewers to discover multiple facets of his poetry, art, freedom, curiosity, and talent.
For this piece, Dimitri drew inspiration from the vibrant spirit of Tết, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, one of the most important celebrations in Vietnamese culture. Tết marks the arrival of spring, a time for renewal, family gatherings, and honoring ancestors. It is steeped in rich traditions, as decorating homes with hoa mai (yellow apricot blossoms) and hoa đào (peach blossoms), symbols of prosperity and happiness.
Infused with this festive energy, Dimitri reimagined a Parisian Ferris wheel as a dazzling, colorful wheel of fortune, capturing the themes of luck, hope, and renewal central to Tết. The artwork bursts with vintage-inspired glossy flowers in full bloom, reflecting the blossoming of new beginnings, while bold, vibrant colors symbolize the joy and the festivities.
Through this harmonious blend of French artistry and Vietnamese cultural motifs, the piece embodies the essence of Tết—a time of celebration, connection, and prosperity for the year ahead.
