For Chinese New Year 2019, Hennessy collaborated with emerging Chinese artist Guangyu Zhang in an artistic collaboration to reimagine the Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilege design as a limited edition. Through a contemporary visual story, the edition captured the spirit of renewal celebrated during the Lunar New Year, while reinforcing Hennessy’s heritage and craftsmanship for key audiences in China.
In this creative dialogue, Zhang beautifully bridges Eastern heritage and Western craftsmanship, embodying Hennessy’s enduring spirit of artistry and cultural connection. This limited edition translates this exchange into a refined design expression, staying true to the Maison’s identity while connecting to the festive energy of the Lunar New Year.
Inspired by the Year of the Pig, the artwork reflects the cyclical rhythm of life through a layered digital collage. Symbols of heaven and earth, past and present create a sense of balance and harmony. At its centre, interlocking circles evoke completion and fulfillment, while subtly echoing Hennessy’s signature double distillation. Through geometry, blur, layering, and contrast, Zhang builds a rich visual language that expresses cultural fusion and the precision of Hennessy’s craftsmanship.
The launch was supported by limited-edition Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilege bottles and a premium presentation box, revealed through festive key visuals. The activation then expanded across digital touchpoints with an artist video and 3D animation, bringing the artwork to life throughout the Lunar New Year campaign in key Chinese markets. In parallel, an immersive pop-up experience translated the visual story into a physical setting through curated displays and interactive content, showcasing Zhang Guangyu’s artistic vision and reinforcing Hennessy’s heritage
