Growth, Blossons, and Beyond by artist Danni Zheng
For Lancôme’s Art of Absolue 2023 exhibition, Somexing Artistic commissioned Chinese artist Danni Zheng to create “Growth, Blossoms, and Beyond”. This immersive digital artwork that intertwines the human, natural, and emotional worlds within a virtual botanic garden.
Placing viewers at the heart of a garden of the future, the installation invites them to experience the beauty and fragility of nature. At the same time, it prompts reflection on the impact of climate change, the relationship between human behavior and the environment, and the importance of biodiversity. Through layered digital imagery and sound, Zheng imagined a poetic ecosystem where art and technology merge to evoke awareness and wonder.
Under Somexing Artistic’s curatorial direction, the installation aligns Lancôme’s environmentally conscious philosophy and vision of sustainable beauty. It also transforms new media art into an experience that bridges innovation, emotion, and ecological reflection.

The installation by Danni Zheng is a 360° multisensory digital artwork that immerses visitors in a botanic garden of the future. Using panoramic projection animation, sound, and fragrance, the artist transforms the space into a living ecosystem where roses, lichens, mushrooms, moss, and bio-materials form a landscape of continuous growth and transformation.
Developed through a meticulous process of digital modeling and animated composition, the work unfolds as a dynamic visual narrative. It traces the life cycles of diverse organisms, from bloom to decay to regeneration. Through this interplay of organic and synthetic imagery, Zheng envisions a future where nature and technology coexist in harmony.
Under Somexing Artistic’s curatorial guidance, the installation merges technological innovation and poetic reflection, embodying Lancôme’s vision of sustainable beauty and the resilient vitality of the natural world.

Danni Zheng
Danni Zheng is a new media artist and alumna of the Royal College of Art, currently based in London. Her artistic practice is rooted in her background in spatial design and encompasses a fusion of physical and virtual realms, utilizing mediums such as 3D animation, immersive experiences, live performances, and creative coding.
With a recent focus on future world-building, Zheng’s work sparks contemplation on sustainable and speculative environments, intricately blending elements of nature, synthetic structures, and human interventions. Demonstrating her collaborative spirit, she has engaged in fruitful collaborations showcased at prestigious venues in London, Shanghai, Miami, Brighton, and Hong Kong.
