Through this commission curated by Somexing Artistic for Lancôme’s Art of Absolue 2023 exhibition, French sculptor Pierre Brault explores the relationship between light, material, and radiance. Golden Sun Rose reflects Lancôme’s vision of beauty as both strength and illumination, blending technical precision with poetic form.
The work transforms recycled industrial materials into a luminous, contemplative sculpture — an emblem of the meeting point between sustainable creation, craftsmanship, and emotion.
Entitled Golden Sun Rose, the sculpture by Pierre Brault is assembled into a radiant circular form reminiscent of both a sun and a blooming rose. Composed of recycled plexiglass petals tinted in pink and mirrored in gold, the large-scale sculpture appears to levitate on translucent rods, radiating both delicacy and strength. As light passes through and around it, the work projects shifting shadows that mimic the rhythm of the sun’s daily cycle, echoing the artist’s exploration of anamorphosis and solar time.
Through Somexing Artistic’s curatorial mediation, Golden Sun Rose elevates material experimentation into a luminous expression of craftsmanship, celebrating sustainability, beauty, and technical mastery.
Pierre Brault, a visual artist and designer reflects on the environment and biodiversity. Through his colourful and luminous creations in recycled Plexiglas, he shares a positive and optimistic vision of the world. Using the principle of anamorphosis, the coloured shadows change according to the time of day, like sundials.
Since 2016, he has been working with leading luxury, fashion and design brands on scenography projects, design objects and large-scale installations in urban spaces. His work is represented by international galleries in Miami, new York, Paris and London.
