Somexing Artistic invited Chinese contemporary artist Chuan Jia to reinterpret Larsen Cognac’s iconic Drakkar bottle for its 70th anniversary. The project explores how a historical form can become a contemporary art canvas, bridging heritage, craftsmanship, and artistic expression.
In “Boundless Harmony”, Chuan Jia reimagines the Drakkar as a poetic landscape of clouds, sea life, and delicate gold details. Working between abstraction and figuration, he creates a visual harmony reflecting the bottle’s Nordic inspiration and his own artistic language.
This collaboration embodies Somexing Artistic’s curatorial vision: brand icons become artworks, and artistic gestures reveal new forms of cultural resonance.
This prestige edition of 300 bottles was inspired by the subtle fusion of French Limoges porcelain craftsmanship and Chuan Jia’s expressive language. To bring this vision to life, the artist traveled to Limoges to explore the savoir-faire of Artoria Limoges. His composition unites sea and sky in a perpetual dialogue — abstract clouds plunging into waves, swimmers and sea creatures drifting through luminous gradients. Meanwhile delicate 24-carat gold traces glint like sunlight on water, each applied with meticulous precision on the porcelain surface. With the mediation and guidance of the Somexing Artistic team, this dialogue between artist and artisans transformed porcelain into a medium of artistic expression, where tradition meets imagination.
Through this shared process, “Boundless Harmony” became more than a design: it emerged as a work of contemporary porcelain art, shaped by collaboration, trust, and cultural exchange. This commission exemplifies Somexing Artistic’s dedication to curating encounters that unite artistic vision and material expertise, turning craftsmanship into a form of creative storytelling.
Known as Trajan Jia, Chuan Jia is a Chinese London-based artist who has developed a highly personal, multicultural art style infused with Chinese traditional painting as well as Western and Eastern literature and culture.
Growing up in a Chinese factory compound environment, the contrast between vast architectural structures and small, exquisite personal living spaces became a key inspiration for his art. Chuan’s work combines techniques such as silkscreen printing and hand drawing, thoughtfully recording the details of changing times and urban communities.
